With an interest in photography early in life, it wasn’t until I bought my first camera in my 20’s that I began to scratch that itch. A Pentax ME Super was my introduction to the fascinating world of photography that could have ended all too soon. Have you ever taken a portrait of a salt water crocodile with an 80mm lens or a buffalo that close that you have to put on a wide-angle lens?

Until someone else decided they wanted my camera more than me, I happily clicked away all the time focused on nature. However, once the need for another camera arose, I became a Canon man, something that I have steadfastly stuck by.

There have been highlights through the years with many satisfying moments spent chasing nature in different countries. Success in a few competitions has kept the fire burning, yet I did allow advances in technology, and work to interfere with my passion.

The end of 2012 has seen me buy my first digital SLR, and yes it’s a Canon. The love affair has resumed and after being out of the dating game for so long you have to start from scratch again. No more Velvia, we have sensors and then there’s the software for the computer to learn. This is going to be one big learning curve, one that I will share with readers along the way.

Age has changed the way I look at the world, and it is through these new eyes and camera equipment that I will bring conservation to the fore. The combination of a passion for photography and the natural world will hopefully shine through in my images.

Join me on this journey.
